With a lifetime of tools and skills at his disposal, Tel Aviv-based electronic musician Guy Mantzur has experienced multitude of worldwide success in recent years. Rather than treating his musical creations as an end product themselves, each signifies a creative step in Guy’s repertoire, with his studio projects spreading beyond simply the realm of club or listening music, but also into film and television soundtracks. First making his debut in 2000 with his album “Atmosphere” on Israeli label Nana Disc, his big break came in 2004 when Chicago-based Real Estate Records released his self-titled album under the “Smooth” moniker. An appropriately smooth blend of trip-hop, downtempo and soft grooves, the album’s chart and sales success led to a number of soundtrack project for TV shows such as Six Feet Under (HBO), Nip/Tuck (Warner Brothers), Roswell (Sugaroo), Desperate Housewives (ABC), Mysterious Ways (NBC), Wonderland (CBC) and MTV’s The Real World. A pair of recent releases on Munich-based label Plattenbank has shown Guy’s newfound connection to the dancefloor with his blend of smooth instrumental arrangements and electro-pop flare.
